Meet Inna Korenzvit | Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Accounting Professional
We had the good fortune of connecting with Inna Korenzvit and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Inna, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Work-life balance has always been important to me. Having always had the entrepreneurial streak, I started my first business at 19, but as my family commitments have grown, I had to scale back my business involvement, and eventually sold it before my first child was born. Since family is my top priority, for the next 20 years I had dedicated myself to raising my four sons, and taking care of the home front. Nonetheless, I made sure to stay abreast of the latest developments in the industry and technology, taking up volunteering and part-time work. Once my children were grown and more of my time was freed up, I was able to dedicate myself to my other passion, my accounting and bookkeeping firm, full time. Oftentimes I felt like I was working more than full time, but rather all the time, so I had to focus on changing that. Now, thanks to the systems and processes that we have developed and put in place at KORE Accounting Solutions, I am able to have a profitable business, work reasonable hours, and be spending a lot of time with my family, which now includes my grandson and daughters-in-law. Family is also very much a part of my professional life, since both my oldest son and my husband work with me.
What should our readers know about your business?
My firm, KORE Accounting Solutions, provides managerial accounting and bookkeeping services for law firms and other high-value service professionals. Beyond providing compliance, we turn the financial information into the business asset, allowing the business owners to make sound analytics-driven business decisions. While we work with a number of industries, our primary focus is in working with solo attorneys and small legal firms. We have the expertise specific to the unique needs of the law firm accounting, and are recognized as experts in the field, consulting and conducting training programs for the attorneys in the Valley and nationwide, in addition to the on-going accounting services. Building up this high level of knowledge wasn’t easy, but I believe that with the many different unique skills of our team members complementing each other, our firm offers the combined expertise to address all of the specifics of law firm accounting, and develop the customized reporting that our different legal clients require. We had to go through a lot of self-education and growing pains in order to develop the level of expertise that we have, and even now we are constantly learning to stay on top of all the technological developments, rules, and regulations. We also think of ourselves as a very tech-forward company, so much so, that we were recognized as Intuit’s Firm of the Future back in 2016. We are completely paperless and work with our customers remotely. We also invested time and resources into the systems and technology to enforce both internal and customer-facing processes, helping ensure the high quality of customer service and deliverables. While at first we had encountered some resistance against remote work in the legal community, much of this concern has been assuaged with the COVID lockdown, as many more attorneys are open to doing their accounting remotely. So our approach is that when something may look like a crisis, we choose to look at it as an opportunity.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were planning a trip to Phoenix, first and foremost, I’d encourage her to come during March so that we could go to a spring training game, spend some time at the Barrett Jackson Car Auction, and enjoy perfect warm days and cool evenings. Since my friend would be staying at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge or the Kierland Westin, two hotels near me with lazy rivers, we’d spend at least one day enjoying the hotel’s spa and lounging around by the pool. Another day, we’d take a trip up north, going for a walk and eating lunch in Sedona, then heading to Flagstaff via the 89 through Oak Creek Canyon, and finishing the day by walking around and eating dinner in Flagstaff. We’d be sure to squeeze in a visit to the Desert Botanical Gardens and the Musical Instrument Museum, and if we were feeling really touristy, we’d go to Rawhide. We’d also definitely make sure to go to Taliesin West, Frank Lloyd Wright’s winter home. On Friday afternoon, we’d go up north to walk around Cave Creek, followed by dinner and watching live bull riding at Buffalo Chip Saloon. On either Saturday or Sunday, we’d go to brunch at Ocotillo, followed by the Japanese Friendship Garden in Downtown Phoenix, rounding out the day by eating dinner at Harumi Sushi. I’m ready for a vacation!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shoutout is to my husband Alex, who besides being my partner in life, has always been super patient and supportive in all my aspirations, my son Mark, who is using his millennial brilliance to keep our firm abreast of the times, and my other wonderful sons and daughters-in-law, who, while having their own careers, are my biggest fans and are always ready to be the sounding boards for my new ideas. I also want to shout out to all our wonderful customers who we love working with, and without whom KORE Accounting Solutions wouldn’t be possible.
